Yuki-onna II (‘snow woman’)

Yuki-onna II (‘snow woman’)

The yuki-onna is a yokai (supernatural creature of Japanese folklore) with the appearance of an indescribably beautiful woman with long black hair and white, sometimes diaphanous skin.

She is usually dressed in a snow-white kimono when she appears along the mountain paths travelled by wayfarers, at other times she is naked and only her face, long hair and pubis can be seen in the snow.

Her gaze provokes terror, her touch can deprive one of vital energy and her breath freezes.
